Competitive Analysis Highlights

To find a unique value proposition (UVP) for ARCH, I conducted research of widely used Museum and Gallery software and apps, identifying the gaps that my user’s were finding in their chosen software.

  • Google Suite was used amongst 100% of my users

  • Veevaart is a top running software used by ICA Miami and other leading institutions

Veevart offers a wide range of tools including fundraising, ticketing, rentals, accounting, collection management and front desk operations. Their focus is on every perspective of the exhibition process but lacks a focus in the beginning process of exhibition design- that includes collaboration and inspiration. Veevart’s interface is complex and can include a learning curve. One issue I found with Veevart is that it is not intuitive and accessible for curators at any stage in their career. The second primary issue I found was that Veevart did not offer API qualities and had zero focus on the beginning process of exhibition planning, including project conception, curatorial narrative, object checklist development and budget.

ARCH provides a focus on the collection management, consolidating contracts, audits, loans, condition reports as well as customizable artist profile management, including an area to record and visualize studio notes from artist visits. Arch supports ease in exhibition planning while also inspiring the curator.

ARCH strives to ensure curators have access to concept and vital procedures including loans, contracts and timeline tracking but also supports early-career curators.

Google is hands down the most intuitive and consolidated application, allowing curators to access a breadth of information at their finger tips. I was inspired by the ease of learning to use Google Suite, as communicated by every Curator I interviewed. The ease of using the app between website to mobile app is seamless.

ARCH strives to reflect Google’s intuitive interface and the ability to work from desktop to mobile. Google also supports collaboration amongst team members.
